The Beaver Local Cross Country opened their 2026 season at the Billy Goat Challenge on Saturday. The race is a challenging one, however the Beaver Local Boys team was up to the challenge as they battled the tough terrain to place 2nd overall as a team. The Boys had three top ten finishers on the day out of 84 runners. Senior Luke Warrick place 2nd a time of 17:23.70, followed by Senior Mason Boggs taking 8th at 19:10.64, and Senior Cole Long who placed 10th with a personal best of 19:12.67. The Girls team also had a good day with two runners finishing in the top 30. Georgie Long finished 24th at 25:17.64, and Naiya Springer 29th at 26:04.25. The team will begin the Suburban League on Tuesday at East Palestine.
